when to journal

fine print journaling : when to journal

Deciding to journal is a wonderful thing! One of the greatest things about journaling is flexibility. There is so much leeway in how you journal. In this post, we’re going to discuss when to journal.

In talking about when to journal, there are a couple different aspects to think about. First, there’s time of day. Depending on the purpose of your journal, you will find yourself writing at different times. For example, if you’re writing to record your daily experience, you might write before bed while the events are fresh. Or if you have a nutrition journal, you’ll probably find it easiest and most beneficial to write immediately after each meal. However, the most important part in writing daily is to do it when it feels right for you. In each of our upcoming features on different types of journals, you’ll find some suggested guidelines on when to write in each one, but it is ultimately up to you!

The second aspect of when to journal is when in your life to do it. We all write for different reasons. Some of us journal to keep track of our thoughts or our workouts. Sometimes we journal to work through ideas or to process events. Ultimately, journaling is a way to get to know yourself better, so use it when you’re feeling a little lost or when you need to center yourself again. It’s one of those things that helps you to keep track of yourself and we promise that no matter where you are in life, you will benefit from journaling. You’ll be more self-aware, more confident, and more relaxed.

Journaling is for you, and only you, so write when it feels good!
